Der öffentliche Raum wird durch die Einrichtung einer privaten Zelle besetzt, die wir für die Dauer der Ausstellung bewohnen. Objekte, Boden und Wände im Inneren des Wohn- und Arbeitscontainers werden mit speziellen Mikrophonen ausgestattet und die auditiven Spuren häuslicher Aktivität live und rund um die Uhr über Lautsprecher in die Bäume der näheren Umgebung übertragen. Die Anonymität der Klangquelle entzieht die hörbaren Ereignisse aus dem Inneren der “Black Box” einer verlässlichen Zuschreibung. Das Private bleibt auch im Moment seiner Ver-öffentlichung Sinnbild unsichtbarer Aktivitäten, die sich ausschließlich durch die spezifischen klangtechnischen Eigenschaften der `abgehörten´ Objekte manifestieren.
The public space is occupied by the setup of a private cell, which we inhabit for the duration of the exhibition. Objects, floor, and the walls inside the living- and working unit are equipped with special microphones. Auditory traces of domestic activity are transmitted live and around the clock via loudspeakers into the trees of the surrounding area. Due to its anonymous source, audible events from within the “Black Box” deprive any reliable attribution. Even at the moment of its being made public, everything private remains a symbol of invisible activity and becomes manifest through the specific sound qualities of the tapped objects only.
